As a centre of education, the district of Salzland is very diverse: Besides numerous schools, two universities of applied sciences and the Bildungsakademie des Salzlandkreises (“Training Academy of the district of Salzland”), there are several qualitatively outstanding education opportunities available through other education institutions. They all make the region’s young people fit for the requirements of the world of tomorrow and thus offer the best prospects for the successful development of the district.

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences
Application-oriented research and development
With its three locations in Bernburg, Dessau and Köthen and approximately 8,000 students, the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest of its kind Germany. It offers more than 65 bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes. Among the universities of applied sciences in Germany, the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences holds a leading position in applied research. This is especially true for the “Life Sciences Competence Centre”.
Bernburg: Nature and economy agriculture, ecotrophology and landscape development as well as economy
Dessau: Creative and innovative architecture, facility management and geoinformation as well as design
Köthen: A great future for engineers in computer science and languages, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering as well as applied biosciences and process engineering
In addition to the research and development at the departments and institutes of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, many research projects are carried out in 13 associated institutes.

The University of Applied Police Sciences Saxony-Anhalt is an institution of the Saxony-Anhalt police. Located in Aschersleben, it conducts education and training as one of the state of Saxony-Anhalt’s universities of applied sciences. The campus in Aschersleben offers a very good teaching and learning environment for around 700 students and trainees.
